Cyber Security Awareness

Interested in hosting a Cyber Security Awareness session at your organization?

As part of our mission to educate and expand the knowledge and skills of our members in information security, we realize that it is important for us to be a resource to the San Antonio community as well.  Our chapter has developed several information sessions we provide without cost. Our sessions are focused on explaining how to protect your online day to day life, your child’s safety online and protecting your business online.

Protecting your home and mobile devices

This session is designed to highlight risks associated with online computer use with real world examples and recommendations for testing/fixing computer security issues.  These sessions cover Updating Computer Software, Ensuring Anti-Virus is working and updated, Phishing Emails, Password Security, Safety with Social Media and Mobile devices.  Instead of just “Why” we need to protect ourselves, this presentation shows you “How”.

Protecting your children online

The Child Safe Initiative is a program designed to educate and provide a place that parents can come to learn about protecting themselves and their families from online threats, both as they exist today and where they are going tomorrow.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much does it cost to host your presentation?

Nothing. This is a free service to the community, we just ask that you provide a meeting room and promote the event within your organization.

Are there any resources that can help me stay safe online?

We recommend the following resources to get started.

  • US CERT – Cyber Security Tips – Great resource provided by US Computer Emergency Readiness Team. You’ll find tips about common security issues such as understanding anti-virus and firewalls and how to deal with cyberbullies.
